What a nice idea – I got the other week an invitation from my RL avatar to visit the Cebit 2009 at Hannover. He mentioned that this would be interesting for me.
I couldn’t really understand when he was talking about virtual worlds and all this stuff. He is always so excited about new technology.
What we saw first was some virtualization of cloud computing.
To be honest I was a bit disapointed. This reminds me somehow when runing particle scripts in SL.
Then we had a walk around the fair ground. TP and flight modus was obviously disabled ![]()
And they need to practice a bit more when rezzing buildings – the sim was obviously a sandox for newbies

But I found at least some very simple builds, one prim, where I must admit that the texture looks quite realistic.

So need to expand the visits to RL world – I expect some more fun with it.
What I will not understand are all the talks about avatars forgetting SL about this RL. Don’t believe that I could become addicted of that world so far. I need to explore more of it.
Except that there is one thing which impressed me most: no lag despite the fact that there were hundreds, thousands of avatars at Hannover. I am wondering what server capacity is in the background….

mmh – had to ask my RL avi. He told me that is one of these buzzwords you can use on a commercal event to impress ppl and in case it occurs, overcome some embarrassing silence during conversations with the IT professionals
. Much better than the ‘SOA’ from last year….

good idea – try the following RL LM 51 04 35 17 N, 6 45 26 43 E during a nice sunny afternoon during spring time , but not excactly Sunday afternoon, then it’s overcrowded in the Biergarden.

What a great idea! My RL Avi knows this LM very well. If not on a sunny sunday afternoon… how about a cosy evening in April. Choose a weekday…
